What is Steampunk Fashion?

I have become infatuated with Steampunk fashion. The definition from Wikipedia. My summary: Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction and fantasy that came into prominence in the 1980s-1990s. The term denotes works set in a world where steam power is used, mostly 19th century Victorian Era, but with prominent elements of fictional technological inventions.

So as you can see, there are several influences coming into play here: Victorian, Gothic, Punk, Mechanical and Futuristic

Petticoats, Gears, Velvet, Corsets, Metal, Lace...such a juxtoposition of materials.
