Finding actual vintage 40s clothing can prove difficult and often pricey.
Lucky for us, the 1970s-1980s borrowed many swing era styles. These are all 70s and 80s retro 40s. They were all found on http://www.etsy.com/ and all under $10!

So, I hope this blog leaves you with a better idea of how to do your new 40s vamp look. I will leave you with some items from my shop in the style...after all, it's my blog!

Amex Faces in Spring Purses

You've all seen the commercial where American Express shows faces in ordinary objects or scenes.

I'm wondering if it worked some subliminal magic on certain fashion designers. See if you can see the faces in these Spring 2010 purses.

Shoe Porn

Shoe Porn

Yes, you read the title correctly.

I realized as I was taking pictures of vintage shoes the other day, I was unintentionally erotically posing them.

Not Tonight I Have a Headache

(If you are interested in any of the above shoes, they, along with several others,
are currently up for auction/buy-it-now on
eBay.)

Now that I have your attention…fashion news about shoes for Spring!

Hot Trends are...(here’s where the mock drumroll of you slapping your hands on your thighs come in) (I’m not kidding, DO IT!)

1) CANDY COLORS (think M&M blue, Skittles green, candy apple red, etc.)

Both of these run around $60 on DSW or a quick eBay search finds them starting at 99 cents!

An example of how to wear them. No matchy, matchy.

2) OXFORDS, BROGUES, MOCCASINS, LOAFERS

These pics are both courtesy of Anthropologie. If you can’t really afford the $288 price tag, you can find some starting around $8 on Etsy.

Or these. I have these. The ones on the left. Got them at Targ├ęt.

3) NEUTRALS

Here’s the deal, you either wear LOUD shoes and neutral clothing or you wear LOUD clothing, and sport a pair of these puppies.

Like Portman is doing here.

4) VAMPIRE, GOTH, ROCKER, BIKER CHIC

Booties from Urban Outfitters. One was $80 and the other $160.

You can wear them with anything, especially a matching jacket. Not quite the boring wardrobe of the Forks, WA femme fatale, but more like True Blood meets Easy Rider meets…hell, here are some more pictures:

5) THE REST OF THE SAFE BETS

Gladiator Sandals
Clogs

Wedges
Metallics

Okay kids, my ADD set in about and hour ago, so I leave you with this:

“Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them and you have their shoes.” – Jack Handey
